Technical Info about the Senster - the mechanical structure
Edward Ihnatowicz was a Cybernetic Sculptor active in the UK in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. His ground-breaking sculptures explored the interaction between his robotic works and the audience, and reached their height with The Senster, a large (15 feet long), hydraulic robot commissioned by the electronics giant, Philips, in Eindhoven in 1970. The sculpture used sound and movement sensors to react to the behaviour of the visitors. It was one of the first computer controlled interactive robotic works of art.
Spooky Projects - Introduction to Microcontrollers with Arduino
Spooky Projects is a set of four 3-hour classes in October 2006 hosted by Machine Project and taught by Tod E. Kurt. It is an introduction to microcontroller programming and interfacing with the real world using the Arduino physical computing platform.
In the class, participants are shown and experiment with the Arduino’s capabilities and learn the basics of common microcontroller interfacing, such as: digital output to control lights and LEDs, digital input to read switches and buttons, analog output to control motor position or LED brightness, and analog input to read sensor inputs. From these tools all sorts of interesting projects can be created. In the class, a few simple project sketches are covered using the provided parts kit, under the theme of spooky animatronics for Halloween.
The class assumes no previous electronics knowledge, though it does assume a little programming knowledge. No soldering is needed during the class, as all circuits are built with solderless breadboards.

Bionic Arduino – Introduction to Microcontrollers with Arduino

Standing in the center of the 360° panoramic theatre is like lost in the green forest—this place is the secret butterfly valley. The world is so beautiful after the rain; groups of butterflies rest on the treetops; the cute deer goes around leisurely in the distant place; the waterfall cascade like silk; the wind blows and grasses and flowers swing their bodies softly. The dreamy butterfly fairies appear like naughty children, using their sweet voice to summon you to dance with them. You can't help stepping forward to follow their beautiful images. Here and there, just stretch out your hand and touch this nice dream for one time—"Dancing Butterflies" give you a marvelous and unforgettable memory.
The blue beam of light leads us to the rushing streams of time tunnels. The whirlpool becomes deeper and deeper before our eyes, as if we are sucked in to an unknown black hole and wait for the surprises in the darkness. Suddenly a pencil of light sends out from the remote center, exploring the essence of the technology world in the digital chips. Each radiant with light waves is like the button of 9 "go-anywhere-door" to the world—this time, we are going to see glories of the 9 technology products of Taiwan in 9 urban cities in the world. The world is condensed in this panoramic theatre. The luminescence balls in 9 cities coincidentally shine and if you touch them, silhouette characters of each story would start another play in the play, vividly telling you some warm, brilliant, and interesting life fragments.
Networked_Performance — robotic
is an international electronic art exhibition looking upon themes of disability through creative transition of the senses. You can experience and enjoy ten fascinating interactive electronic artworks, including: a painting seen through your hand by the touch of the wind, a digital musical instrument played by facial gestures, a robot responding to your voice, a table transmitting your hand’s touch into light, a block transforming Braille into sound, a harmonic bell playing according to your heartbeat, and so on.
pathology of an art project
every body has an opinion for matters and topics that he/she barely touches and explores, the most interesting of all is that i see people that have not yet familiarize themselves with electronic sound as a genre and when they describe their notion of electronic sound you understand that they are looking for something else. the same goes for sensors visual actuators etc. it is so often that you realize that the person responsible for setting up an interactive projects does not want/need interaction!!!!! he/she merely used that word for impression and when you actually get down to discuss interaction related issues you realize that he/she has planned and designed something totally different.
there is a mistake on our part (people that actually try to understand and use this technology) and is the following.
our fear of not being considered an 'artist' makes trying to respond to any stupid mf that thinks that has an idea extraordinaire only to find yourself in a situation when you are trying to convince the person that invite us in the first place to complete a task, for the necessity of this task in his/her show!!!!! this is time consuming and most of the times produces no result at all, it is just a situation where you find yourself offering without a return. this is certainly the case is greece this is why you can find so many projects never reaching production stage appart from planning and proposal.....!
this is because the people that deisgn them have not got a clue of what they are after what it is possible to be achieved with specific technologies and therefore present a solid case of a project that is possible to get funded and completed.....
you need to believe on an idea in order to implement it. you have to know deep down inside that you can do it by yourself and that you will do it if you have to and later going to find partners to work with.... especially if you can't offer a fee for services you want you need passion and knowledge of what you are negotiating in order to convince someone to participate....
if you ask something crazy make sure that you would do it aswell.... there are people that work like that with an example being Panos Tsagkarakis.... bravo Panos..... this is guy is so fucking demanding but he makes himself available anytime if he has to achieve and complete something he wants....
