One day in 1993, two astronauts free the space witch Rita Repulsa. Earth's only hope lies in five teenagers from Angel Grove when the extradimensional sage Zordon equips them with Power Morphers and giant robots known as "Zords." Together, the Power Rangers fight evil while maintaining double lives as ordinary high school students.
Numerous defeats later, Rita chooses Tommy Oliver as her evil Green Ranger. The Rangers soon break Rita's spell over him and add Tommy to their ranks. Her creations no match for the six Rangers, Rita ultimately drains the Green Ranger's powers with a magical candle.
But when the Rangers forfeit their powers to rescue their parents from Rita's Dark Dimension, Tommy returns to save the day, using temporary powers drawn from Zordon and the other Rangers. Now reunited, the Rangers thwart Rita time after time. Until...
Rita's master Lord Zedd returns and banishes her into the depths. The Rangers, meanwhile, upgrade their Dinozords into Thunderzords to battle Zedd's new army of monsters. Tommy's powers are exhausted, but he soon returns as the White Ranger.
Just as Zedd completes his massive war machine Serpentera, three of the Rangers are selected for a peace conference in Switzerland. Rocky, Adam, and Aisha step forward as their replacements, and Zedd is dealt numerous losses at the hands of the new Power Team.
Later, Rita returns to Zedd's moon palace and weds the master of evil using a love potion. The Rangers escape each of the couple's nefarious plots, but then disaster strikes...
Rito, Rita's brother, manages to destroy the Thunderzords in battle, overloading the Rangers' powers. They seek out the ancient sage Ninjor, who equips them with new Ninja powers and Zords.
In time, Rita turns Australian-born Kat Hillard into her evil double agent, resulting in the loss of Pink Ranger Kimberly's powers, as well as Ninjor and the White Ranger's Falconzord. Kat later breaks free from Rita's control and becomes the new Pink Ranger as Kimberly retires to pursue a gymnastics career.
Soon, Rita's father Master Vile arrives seeking the long-hidden Zeo Crystal. Although the Rangers scatter the crystal through time to keep it from Vile's clutches, the evil sorcerer reverts the Rangers to children. Their Power Coins destroyed, the ex-Rangers seek the Zeo Crystal while the Earth is defended by the Alien Rangers of the planet Aquitar.
Once the crystal restores time, the Rangers, now joined by new Yellow Ranger Tanya, find their Command Center under attack. The Zeo Crystal survives, and the teens become Zeo Rangers, armed with new weapons and Zords against the threat of King Mondo's Machine Empire, whose forces have sent Rita and Zedd into hiding.
Some time later, the Rangers are aided by the mysterious Gold Ranger from the planet Triforia. But when the Gold Ranger is injured by alien bounty hunters, he leaves his powers under the care of former Red Ranger Jason, who rejoins the team in Angel Grove.
King Mondo soon falls to the might of the Rangers' new Super Zeozords, but Rita and Zedd's hopes to reclaim their moon palace are dashed with the arrival of Mondo's heir, Prince Gasket.
Mondo then returns, and the Rangers' situation seems bleak when the Gold Ranger powers begin to fail. Just then, Trey of Triforia reclaims his powers; Mondo is defeated, and Rita and Zedd finish off the strained Machine Empire.
Peace doesn't last long as the evil space pirate Divatox arrives seeking to release the lava demon Maligore from his island prison. The Rangers, joined by the young Justin as the new Blue Ranger, upgrade to Turbo technology and defeat Divatox's schemes.
Zordon soon departs for his home world of Eltar and is replaced by Dimitria of Inquiris. The Rangers are also joined in time by the Blue Senturion, a robot police officer from the future who brings news of an impending disastrous evil alliance.
When the senior Rangers retire, they pass their powers to four worthy candidates. The new Rangers are aided by the mysterious Phantom Ranger and his new set of Rescuezords, which they use to thwart Divatox's brother, General Havoc.
When the evil overlord Dark Specter captures Zordon, the Rangers, recently defeated by Divatox's assault on their Power Chamber, fly into space as Justin remains on Earth. On their journey, the teens encounter Andros, a Red Ranger from the planet KO-35 who slowly accepts them as his teammates. Together, the new Space Ranger team defends Earth from the attacks of Dark Specter's agent, Astronema.
In time, Astronema is joined by the treacherous bounty hunter Darkonda, whom Andros discovers was responsible for his sister's disappearance years ago. The Rangers gain new Mega Vehicles hidden by Zordon, as well as a new teammate, the Silver Ranger Zhane, who awakens from a two-year cryogenic suspension. After a quest to restore his weakened powers, Zhane ultimately departs to rejoin his people, the survivors of KO-35.
When Astronema discovers she is Andros's sister Karone, she defects to the Rangers' side but is turned evil once more when Dark Specter turns her into a cyborg. In a plot to destroy both the Rangers and Dark Specter, Astronema unleashes the Psycho Rangers, who drain Dark Specter's energies until their eventual destruction.
But soon, Dark Specter declares war on the universe. With the likes of Rita, Zedd, the Machine Empire, and Divatox joining forces, the evil armies quickly overwhelm the forces of good. Finding herself ruler of the universe after Dark Specter is destroyed by Darkonda, Astronema engages in a final showdown with Andros. Ultimately, Andros shatters Zordon's energy tube, unleashing a wave of energy which decimates Dark Specter's armies and purifies Karone.
With the Earth saved, a select fleet of colonists embark on a search for a New World aboard the massive space colony Terra Venture. But on the distant planet Mirinoi, the evil alien Scorpius attacks seeking the ancient Quasar Sabers. Maya escapes and returns with five teens from Terra Venture who join her in unleashing the ancient weapons. When their leader Mike falls to certain doom, the remaining teens and Maya become Galaxy Rangers and flee to Terra Venture as Mirinoi is left imprisoned in stone.
Pursued by Scorpius, the Rangers defend the colony from his repeated attacks, which include a plot to unleash the ancient Lights of Orion. During this time, the Rangers also contend with the Magna Defender, who seeks the Lights to enact vengeance on Scorpius. The Rangers ultimately capture the Lights, and Magna Defender sacrifices his life to save the colony. His life force having been absorbed by the Magna Defender on Mirinoi, Mike returns and inherits the warrior's powers to fight at the Rangers' side.
Scorpius, meanwhile, is joined by the treacherous mastermind Deviot, who soon orchestrates Scorpius's destruction at the hands of the Rangers. Scorpius's daughter Trakeena inherits his powers and seeks revenge on the Rangers.
Aided by the Space Rangers against the resurrected Psycho Rangers, the Galaxy Rangers lose a member when Kendrix appears to sacrifice her life to save her fellow Pink Ranger Cassie. Although the Space Rangers return to Earth, former villainess Karone recovers the lost pink Quasar Saber and becomes Kendrix's surrogate.
Soon, Deviot imprisons the colony in the Lost Galaxy, where the Rangers must battle the forces of Captain Mutiny. The colony is ultimately freed, due in part to the sacrifice of Mike's powers.
Its engines nearly crippled, Terra Venture aims for a nearby world but is demolished by the mad attacks of Trakeena. The colonists escape to the planet below, and the Rangers apparently destroy Trakeena's superpowered form. Maya discovers their new home is actually Mirinoi, and the Quasar Sabers revive the planet and Kendrix as well.
On Earth, a horde of demons is unleashed from an ancient tomb. Led by Diabolico, the demons attack Mariner Bay, a city built on the ruins of their ancient palace after the destruction of the evil Queen Bansheera. Captain Mitchell, head of the secret organization known as Lightspeed, selects five teens to defend the city as Lightspeed Rangers.
After numerous defeats at the hands of the Rangers, Diabolico unleashes Mitchell's long-lost son Ryan, who steals an experimental Morpher to become the Titanium Ranger. Ryan ultimately joins the Rangers and triumphs over Diabolico's three angel-warriors, as well as a cursed tattoo branded on him by the demon leader. Diabolico soon falls and is replaced by Bansheera's son, Olympius.
The demons soon attempt to resurrect Bansheera, a plot only partially foiled by the Rangers, and Ryan departs to learn the secrets of banishing the demon forces. When Olympius doublecrosses his fellow generals, they strike back by resurrecting Diabolico. As the generals vie for power, Olympius is defeated in battle with the Rangers.
Soon, Bansheera completes her transformation into her physical form, at the expense of her generals' lives. Last to fall, Olympius and Diabolico are destroyed by the Rangers' new Lifeforce Megazord. When the queen seeks to unleash all the demons from the hellish Shadow World, the Rangers escape the destruction of their Aquabase just in time to seal Bansheera inside the Shadow World.
In the year 3000, a mutant leader known as Ransik defeats Red Ranger Alex and escapes to 2001 with a prison ship full of mutant criminals. He is pursued by four Time Force officers who recruit Alex's apparent ancestor Wes Collins to unlock their Morphers and allow them to become Time Force Rangers.
Wes ultimately proves himself as Red Ranger, and together the Rangers fight Ransik's forces with the help of Zords sent from the future. History slowly changes as Wes's father Mr. Collins involves himself in the battle to save Silver Hills. Meanwhile, the Rangers are watched and aided by a mysterious Time Force commander in the future.
As the Rangers contend with the Silver Guardians, a mercenary squad owned by Mr. Collins, Wes's embittered friend Eric steals a long-lost Morpher to become the Quantum Ranger and leader of the Silver Guardians. Eric slowly begins to cooperate with the Rangers, protecting the secret of their future origin from Mr. Collins.
Some time later, Ransik's robot assistant Frax betrays him by destroying a serum which he needs to survive. When Mr. Collins' company Bio-Lab synthesizes the serum to cure the people of Silver Hills after a toxic mutant attack, Ransik raids the lab and gravely injures Mr. Collins.
Frax, meanwhile, begins construction of a super-robot, Dragontron. The Rangers are joined by the mystery man from the future, revealed to be the hard-nosed Alex. Told of his father's imminent death, Wes returns his powers to Alex and takes the reigns of Bio-Lab. Wes, however, soon rejects his destiny and reclaims his powers to lead the Rangers to victory against Frax. Alex returns to the future after healing Mr. Collins and setting history on a new course.
In time, Ransik exhausts his supply of mutant criminals. Frax, meanwhile, completes a final robot, Doomtron, whose energies threaten to destroy the city. Alex once again changes history by retrieving his four fellow Time Force officers from their imminent destruction, but they soon return to fight alongside Wes. In a final showdown with the Rangers, Ransik accidentally strikes his reformed daughter Nadira and immediately surrenders to the Rangers. The officers return to the future as Wes and Eric remain to lead the Silver Guardians.
In the city of Turtle Cove, orphan Cole Evans seeks to learn the fate of his explorer parents. When he is recruited by four Wild Force Rangers to fight the evil Orgs, he steps in as leader of the team. The Rangers, based on the sky island Animarium, are aided by giant animals known as Wildzords as they battle the forces of a reborn Master Org.
The Rangers obtain numerous Wildzords until Master Org's general Nayzor unleashes the wolf demon Zen-Aku. The Rangers ultimately break the spell on Zen-Aku, reverting him to his ancient human form, Merrick. Now the Lunar Wolf Ranger, Merrick fights alongside the Rangers but does not join them on the Animarium.
Soon, Master Org's suspicious servants Jindrax and Toxica reveal him to be the human Viktor Adler, and they ultimately escape and seek a means to defeat him. The Rangers, meanwhile, receive the help of the Deer and Falcon Wildzords. When Dr. Adler returns to Turtle Cove, Cole is faced with the realization that his parents were betrayed and killed by their former friend. Adler is ultimately killed by Org general Mandilok but is secretly reborn as a true Org.
As the Rangers battle Mandilok's forces, they are aided - and tested - by the lord of the Wildzords, Animus, who assumes the human form of a boy known as Kite. The Rangers soon contend with Onikage, a ninja general sent by Master Org. Toxica loses her life after being manipulated into capturing the Rangers' mentor, Princess Shayla, but she is revived by Jindrax, and together they help the Rangers free Shayla.
The Rangers soon discover, however, that Master Org has used Shayla's powers to summon an Org Heart which transforms him into a powerful new form. Master Org promptly destroys Animus and the Wildzords, but the combined spirits of all the Wildzords return to destroy the villain. Shayla returns to the sky on the Animarium, and the Rangers return to their civilian lives.
Earth is soon threatened once again when the dark ninja Lothor returns from exile seeking the destruction of the planet's mystical ninja schools. Three unlikely students are chosen as Wind Rangers under the guidance of Cam and his sensei father, now transformed into a guinea pig.
Lothor soon counters by unleashing his two Thunder Rangers, whom the Rangers ultimately learn have been manipulated by Lothor. Learning the truth of their parents' demise, Blake and Hunter leave Blue Bay Harbor but soon return on the Wind Rangers' side.
When the Rangers' powers are stolen, Cam journeys into the past and retrieves his mother's Samurai Amulet, allowing him to become the Green Samurai Ranger and save the day. Together the six Rangers repeatedly thwart Lothor's attacks, despite his acquisition of new generals Motodrone, Vexacus, and Shimazu.
Lothor's generals scheme against each other, culminating in their mutual destruction. Having masterminded his generals' downfall, Lothor uses their energies to cause the Abyss of Evil to overflow. Despite losing their powers, the Rangers succeed in imprisoning Lothor in the abyss.
Elsewhere, former Power Ranger Tommy Oliver begins teaching at Reefside High, where three of his students stumble upon his ancient Dino Gems. When the reptilian Mesogog attacks, they morph into Dino Rangers to save the city. Dr. Oliver soon joins their ranks as the Black Ranger.
Soon, the teens' friend Trent stumbles upon his enigmatic father's double life as Mesogog. Trent is transformed into the evil White Ranger, whose powers increasingly corrupt Trent, but he is ultimately saved with the help of his father's human form, Anton Mercer. In return, Trent swears to keep his father's identity from his fellow Rangers.
In time, Mesogog's general Zeltrax creates an evil duplicate White Ranger, a force which prompts Red Ranger's transformation into the Triassic Ranger using his teammates' energies. Zeltrax is apparently destroyed but later returns to plot against both the Rangers and Mesogog.
After Mesogog's double agent Elsa is revealed as Reefside High's Principal Randall, the Rangers soon learn the truth about Anton Mercer, and Trent is forced to prove his loyalty. Mesogog, meanwhile, separates from his human host, at which point the Rangers raid his island fortress and rescue Mercer. They then rescue Elsa from Zeltrax's clutches and exhaust their powers by destroying Mesogog.
Fast forward to the year 2025... When intergalactic warlord Emperor Gruumm and his Troobian armadas seek to conquer Earth, now a haven for extraterrestrial immigrants, Space Patrol Delta dispatches A-Squad, an elite Ranger force. But when Gruumm ambushes A-Squad in another galaxy, Earth's only hope is B-Squad, the capable but quirky offspring of SPD's original roster.
Several battles later, Gruumm's evil assistant Mora, a magical ten-year-old girl, tries to turn a young mutant boy named Sam against the Rangers, but the boy joins SPD's ranks. When Gruumm's general Benaag arrives, SPD's Commander Cruger, having survived Benaag's attack on his homeworld years ago, returns to combat as the powerful Shadow Ranger.
Eventually, Gruumm's forces, including Morgana, the adult form of Mora, gain the upper hand over the Rangers, until the arrival of the Omega Ranger, an energy being from an alternate future ruled by the Troobians. The Rangers are stunned to learn that he is the future form of their young friend Sam, and Morgana is left with the task of plotting the seven Rangers' defeat. |
